House ventilation

    House ventilation

Mould, damp or stale air in your home? We deliver complete solutions — from design to maintenance.

Why does a house need ventilation?

A modern house is built airtight, which means that without mechanical ventilation moisture, CO2 and pollutants accumulate. Natural air exchange through windows is neither sufficient nor energy-efficient.

Heat-recovery ventilation provides a constant supply of fresh air while pre-warming the incoming air. It saves up to 90% of the heat energy spent on air exchange.

Proper ventilation prevents mould, improves sleep, boosts concentration and protects the building structure from moisture damage. The investment pays off in both health and heating bills.

Both extract-only and heat-recovery systems work for houses. The choice depends on house size, condition and budget.

    Suitable solutions

    1

    Heat-recovery ventilation

The optimal choice for most homes. Saves up to 90% of the heat used for air exchange and delivers the cleanest indoor climate.

    2

    Enthalpy (heat + moisture) recovery

A premium solution — comfortably humid indoors in winter, dry in summer. Especially suited to wooden houses and homes with a sauna.

    Reference project

Typical project: 180 m² house in Viimsi

The client wanted a modern ventilation system for a 1990s house being renovated. The old system was just an extract fan in the bathroom.

We proposed a Komfovent Domekt R 450 V heat-recovery unit with new ductwork. Design took 2 weeks, installation 5 working days.

Result: even air exchange across all rooms, 25% lower heating bills, no more moisture from the sauna or bathroom. Total cost €5,800 including installation.

    Common problems and solutions

    Problem

    Cold supply air in winter

    Solution

A heat-recovery unit pre-warms the fresh air to 18–22 °C before it enters the room.

    Problem

    High heating costs

    Solution

The unit recovers up to 90% of the heat, saving €200–600 per year.

    Problem

    Noise from ventilation

    Solution

Correct unit selection, silencers and proper installation keep the noise below 25 dB.

    Problem

    Mould in the bathroom

    Solution

The right airflow plus a humidity sensor removes moisture before it can cause damage.

    Problem

    Drafts through windows

    Solution

Mechanical ventilation removes the need for natural air exchange — no need to open windows in winter.
