Apartment ventilation

    Apartment ventilation

Mould, stale air or smells from other apartments? We solve it without major construction work.

Why does an apartment need ventilation?

In older apartment buildings, ventilation is often worn out or relies only on natural draft. In new airtight apartments the lack of fresh air is a problem from day one.

Poor air exchange leads to bathroom mould, window condensation, headaches and insomnia. Smells from the kitchen and other apartments also travel through extract ducts.

The typical solution for apartments is room-based wall ventilation units — compact devices installed directly into the exterior wall without long ductwork.

A central unit covering the whole apartment is also possible but usually requires dropped ceilings and more complex planning.

    Suitable solutions

    1

    Room-based ventilation unit

A compact wall unit (e.g. Vallox 51K, Lossnay) installed directly into the wall. Suitable for a bedroom or living room.

    2

    Apartment-wide heat-recovery unit

A small unit (Vallox 110 MV, Komfovent Domekt) serves the whole apartment with ducts hidden in the ceiling.

    3

    Humidity-controlled extract

A demand-controlled extract system for apartments being renovated where there is no room for ducts.

    4

    Kitchen extract solutions

A recirculating or extracting kitchen hood integrated with the existing ventilation.

    Reference project

Typical project: 65 m² apartment in Tallinn

The client moved into an older panel-building apartment that was damp and stale. The existing extract was not working properly.

We installed a room-based ventilation unit in the bedroom and a proper extract in the bathroom. The work took one day.

Result: fresh air in the bedroom, no more stairwell smells, noticeably better sleep. Total cost €1,600 including installation.
